Status Quo
Die Anfänge der Band
Die britische Rockband ging zwischen 1962 und 1965 aus den Gruppen Spectres und Jam Traffic hervor. Nach dem Ausstieg des Gründungsmitglieds Alan Lancaster (1985) gilt für Status Quo die erste Zusammenarbeit zwischen Francis Rossi (Gesang, Gitarre) und Rick Parfitt (Gesang, Gitarre ) 1965 als Bandbeginn. Zur aktuellen Besetzung gehören weiterhin Andy Bown (Mundharmonika, Gesang, Keyboard, Gitarre, seit 1982), John “Rhino” Edwards (Gesang, Bass, Gitarre, seit 1986) (Schlagzeug, seit 1986) und Matt Letley (Schlagzeug, seit 2000).
Die Erfolgsgeschichte
Nicht nur personelle, sondern auch stilistische Wendungen führten zum heutigen Status Quo. Einen sensationellen Einstieg hatte die Band 1967 mit “Pictures of matchstick man” im Sog des Psychedelic-Rock, wandelte sich dann aber zur Rockband mit griffigem Gitarrensound. “Rockin` all over the world”, “In the army now” oder “Down, down” gelangten auch in die österreichischen Hitparade, waren aber weit in den ersten 30 Jahren der Band verteilt. Status Quo ist eine Tourband mit ungebrochenem Hang zum Remastering, zur Neuzusammenstellung und zur Veröffentlichung jeglichen Materials.
